Noloc Records is a family business birthed from a family singing group, which started as a family musical tribute to their mother on her 60th birthday in 1993. After performing and touring for over 7 (seven) years, the group was offered a recording contract with a Mississippi company in the year 2000. 2 (two) years after the contract was signed, recording still had not begun. Bishop John and Jacqueline Haynes, as managers of the group felt responsible and therefore decided to take matters into their own hands. They let the contract expire and by 2003, the group wrote 10 compositions, secured copyrights, became publishers, joined a performing rights group, learned the songs, purchased an eight track home studio, recorded and mixed the songs and produced what turned out to be a pretty good 1st CD. The artwork, printing, manufacturing and duplication were at the Haynes’ own expense. Other family members began to volunteer their services which included shipping CD’s to radio stations for review by announcers for potential air play, seeking magazine and other media publicity, marketing and placing the CD’s with local and regional retailers, securing an on line presence, securing distribution, performing accounting and office duties and much more.
Soon the word was out and the CD was making play list across the country, the group began making television and radio appearances and was in heavy demand for concert performances as well as national television appearances. This activity drew other artist to the Haynes’ for advice, recording and more. Since the Haynes’ and their family of volunteer workers found such gratification in providing these services to others, Mrs. Haynes presented the idea of starting a recording company to her husband. Together they presented the idea to family members and friends. Everyone involved felt it was not only a great idea but that it was inevitable. The Haynes’, family members and friends began enrolling in various courses and became educated in the business of music and to donate personal funds for business fees, more advanced recording equipment, office supplies and more. The Haynes’ began to organize and structure what was a serious family ministry and merged it into a family recording company, and called it NOLOC Records.
